Our values are based on Christian Humanism:
The Institute for Family Education was established in 1969, by a group of parents and educators who shared a common vision of education. The founders believed that the best education develops the whole person; it integrates academic excellence and personal character development.
They also believed that a child’s education is the primary responsibility of his/her parents, who are supported by professional educators.
In October 1969 the first school, La Farga, was inaugurated in Sant Cugat del Vallés. In a short period of time families who shared this vision joined together in other cities and founded schools like Turó (1970 and Aura (1971) in Tarragona and La Vall (1972) in Bellaterra. In 1973 Mestral and Montclar opened in Igualada and in 1976 Les Alzines in Gerona. In 1986 Airina School in Terrassa joind Institució. La Escuela Infanil La Farga opened in 1999 and also joined the group as well as Terraferma and Arabell, schools founded by parents with the same mission.
In 2009 The Institute for Family Education welcomed Aixa and Llaüt two new schools in Mallorca.
Our schools are Family schools because primary responsibility for educating children lies with you, the families. We therefore strive to guide you as you undertake this essential task.
At Institució parents play a major role. The school therefore works directly with the families in an ongoing collaboration and the teachers share their educational knowledge and experience so that your children can fully develop as people and become caring citizens and competent professionals
This collaboration between the families and the school is key to ensuring our students are given the chance to develop in all areas of their lives.
At Institució each student is treated as an individual, just like at home, and each family is attended to individually because education is much more than simply conveying knowledge.
As part of the personalized attention to each student's needs and the support given to each family, a tutor meets twice a month with each student and once a term with the family to set goals for improvement and track each student's progress.
Tutors meet with the parents periodically to discuss academic aspects, a student's character, habits, friends, relationship with brothers and sisters, etc. Any aspects that might have an influence on the student's education are considered so that the school and families can work together to set specific goals for improvement.
La personalización en la educación se completa cuando esta se adapta a las circunstancias de cada hijo y de cada hija. Una de las herramientas que nos ha dado buenos resultados y nos ayuda en esta personalización es la educación diferenciada. Esta metodología organizativa nos ayuda al reconocimiento de las potencialidades y individualidades de cada niño y cada niña para poder sacar lo mejor de ellos y conseguir la igualdad real de oportunidades.
Los objetivos pedagógicos son exactamente los mismos: buscamos el máximo desarrollo de sus posibilidades; potenciamos sus habilidades para que aprendan a razonar, a decidir, a convivir; promocionamos el desarrollo de las capacidades intelectuales y las aptitudes personales como el espíritu de servicio y el ejercicio responsable de la libertad personal.
Paralelamente, hemos desarrollado un Plan de Igualdad para educar a los jóvenes sin estereotipos de género y proponer un modelo coeducativo basado en una concepción realista del hombre y la mujer, profundizando en su dignidad y en la necesaria corresponsabilidad en la familia y el trabajo facilitando así la igualdad real de oportunidades.
This collaboration between the families and the school is key to ensuring our students are given the chance to develop in all areas of their lives. We promote in our students the virtues and habits that allow us to become better people and help us grow as free and responsible citizens.

The schools belonging to Institució offer Christian-inspired educational projects, instigated by families which share these Christian values. Our educational proposal is based on a Christian sense of the person, the world and society, which aims to find a coherent union between faith, thought and life while respecting and promoting every person's personal freedom in all aspects of life. The centres were set up at the initiative of parents who had been inspired by Saint Josémaría Escrivá, founder of the Opus Dei.
